No book review can be completely objective, however, at Book Minded Mag I strive to evaluate books on the effectiveness of the writing, not just whether I like the story or not. Sometimes, the very fact that you hate the character means the author did exactly what they were supposed to do. There was a time when I wouldn’t post a negative review but I’ve changed my mind on this issue. Books are meant to be read and reviewed critically and everyone is not going to like a book. So if I read a book that I didn’t enjoy but read it all the way to the end, I will write a negative review. I’m not one to completely trash a book (EXCEPT Catcher in the Rye) but I will let my readers know why I didn’t like it.
